about

Debt Records is thrilled to present a new single from Bridie Jackson – the hauntingly affecting “No Baby To Lull”.

The song was written by Louis Barabbas and comes from his new musical Jocasta, in which Bridie plays the title role (full soundtrack album released on 5th May). This is not their first creative partnership – Louis also wrote Bridie’s single “Scarecrow” (released in 2013).

Bridie is best known around the world as lead singer for Bridie Jackson & The Arbour (who sadly – though amicably – split in 2016). During her time with the band she received widespread critical acclaim for her songwriting and vocal style, plus regular radio play on BBC 1, 2, 3, 4 and 6 Music, playing live sessions for Dermot O’Leary, Radio 4′s Loose Ends and Radio 3’s Late Junction. The Arbour also won a Journal Culture Award for the Arts Council funded project Music in Museums, and performed on multiple stages at the legendary Glastonbury Festival, having beaten over 8,000 contenders to win the 2013 Glastonbury Emerging Talent Competition.

lyrics

Wait
a little longer
Stay a little longer
The world slows
And hollows
Yet my heart still remains
So full
With a lullaby
But no baby to lull

Don't say a word to
Those who would hurt you
It's cold out
But just hold out
Your hand
I won't ever let you go
My lullaby
With no baby to lull

Now I make
Sure that every
Mistake
Is carried with me
And I've set
Every regret
In stone
As a monument
But still
This is a lullaby
With no baby to lull.

Wait a little longer
Stay a little longer.
